Putting Things Into Perspective

Yesterday, I met a man at my job, who in the last few months had a heart attack and a stroke.  He has trouble speaking, his vision is poor, and he walks with a walker.  He is not that old. He is only in his 50's.

He was so sweet and we had a nice conversation about music and his family. We even shared a few jokes.  He told me that he loves to sing and dance and when he got up to take a walk, he started to sing and dance to "Don't Stop Believing." It was so cute.

One thing I noticed was that he was so happy. Never once did he complain or say, "why me?" These horrible things happened to him, but he doesn't let it get in the way of his happiness. I think people get caught up in feeling bad for themselves or complaining until someone feels bad for them. There is always someone worse off than you.  I find that people who have gone through the worst things in life are the most positive.  I only spent about an hour with him, but I was happy for the rest of the day.
