How To Overcome Stage Fright

We all get stage fright. When we are performing in a play, a dance recital, or speaking in front of an audience we get nervous, and it's normal. This post is about ways that I manage my stage fright when I dance, but it can be applied to anything.

1. Practice until you know it.  If it helps to practice in front of a mirror, or in front of a friend, do that.

2. Don't overthink it.  If you worry about it way in advance, you will be even more nervous when the day comes.

3. Breathe. Try to take a few deep breaths right before you have to go in front of an audience. It will help you relax.

4. Fake it. Smile even if you are nervous.

5. Think positive thoughts. If you think you are going to succeed, then you will.

6. Imagine someone you love is in the audience. Thinking about someone that you know will encourage you and want you to do well will make it easier.

7. Let go and have fun!
