Technology of Today

Hey everyone!  I have been thinking a lot about how technology really changed the way that people live and interact with each other.  We have Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, cell phones, Skype, and the list goes on. In my opinion, technology has changed the world positively and negatively.

When I was little, no one had tons of gadgets to play with. I played outside with the neighborhood kids on the weekends until it got dark.  It was so much fun and no one was worried about going on their computers to play games and to download a ton of apps.  I think that kids lose the face to face interaction with all of these new forms of communication. I think kids are going to have a tough time when they become adults because by being born into the technological age, they are not learning how to communicate effectively.  One of my biggest pet peeves is when someone is texting when you are trying to have an in-person conversation with them. Don't do it!

On the other hand, technology is great because we are able to share things with friends and family, instantly. Technology makes it so much easier to keep in touch with friends and get back in touch with old friends.  In the past, it was easy to lose touch with people and it was probably common to never see them again. Today, everyone is on Facebook.  I love to see what people are up to and I love looking at pictures that my friends post.  I love Skype because I can communicate with people face to face who live far away and never get to see on a regular basis.  Having a cell phone and texting makes life so much easier, too. If I am out with friends and I am somewhere that is too noisey, I could just text someone to come pick me up without having to make a phone call.

I don't know what I would do without it! What is your favorite technology?
